The Chenin Blanc grape variety originates in the Loire Valley of France. The grapes for the DOWIE DOOLE Chenin Blanc are sourced from Australia’s oldest known Chenin Blanc vineyard; ‘Tintookie’ dating back to 1933, owned by Drew Dowie and Lulu Lunn.
“Produced from 80+yo vines on the Tintookie Vineyard in the cooler foothills of McLaren Vale. There's no question this lineage gives the wine more presence and authority than almost all of its varietal peers." James Halliday
Colour: Medium straw
Nose: Fresh, lively aromas of passion fruit and Kaffir Lime leaf.
Palate: The aromas follow through onto the palate with a burst of delicate white stone fruit and citrus flavours. A lovely, long palate and a crisp, clean and zesty finish.

“Start with 83yo vines from Blewitt Springs, hand pick at low baume and high natural acidity, cool ferment in stainless steel for 2 - 3 weeks and you end up with a wine of startling freshness, acidity and vibrant citrus and apple flavours. DOWIE DOOLE gives the wine a 20-plus-year cellaring future, and I'll run with that. This is a terrific wine at a bargain basement price.” James Halliday

"DOWIE DOOLE is intimately connected to the Chenin Blanc variety – this from 80-year-old foothills vines. Although the variety has been swamped in the market by all powerful sauvignons, this has quite similar tropica-meets-citrus aromatic vibes, zesty and fresh with pith in the finish. And with its varietal DNA it will mature into a deeper golden honeyed gem" Tony Love
