The DOWIE DOOLE Estate comprises of 64 hectares of vineyards and a 500-tonne crush winery, allowing control of wine production from grape growing to the finished wine. Being a genuine grower-producer, our wine is true to our winemaking philosophy and vineyards. The commitment to quality has been recognised through the achievement of many trophy’s/awards and most recently being awarded 5 stars in the 2020 Halliday Wine Companion for the third year in a row   

   

DOWIE DOOLE remains privately owned by a dynamic group of like-minded wine enthusiasts, including highly awarded Chief Winemaker/Managing Director Chris Thomas and founder Norm Doole who remains chairman of the DOWIE DOOLE board. The future is exciting for the winery as it continues to grow its already strong Australian and export sales to Europe, North America, China and South East Asia. A new DOWIE DOOLE tasting room will be opening summer 2019 offering an immersive tasting experience in an environmentally friendly off the grid tasting room. With a focus on offering an unforgettable DOWIE DOOLE experience in our estate vineyard to grow DOWIE DOOLE’s direct to consumer sales.

SUMMARY   

We have an exciting new full-time role for a passionate, well-organised manager. You will lead our Direct to Consumer sales activities and execution of exceptional customer experiences. The role will encompass cellar door, wine club, events and social media channels.   

  

WHAT YOU’LL DO   

  • Engage with customers at the DOWIE DOOLE Cellar Door   
  • Ensure all staff promote the brand story   
  • Ensure all staff present the highest standards in delivering a unique cellar door experience   
  • Grow the membership of DOWIE DOOLE’s wine club  
  • Manage the annual calendar of events  
  • Seek opportunities for the cellar door to participate in  
  • Achieve assigned volume, vale and profit targets  
  • Manage operating expenses and budgets  
  • Recruit, train and provide ongoing development for cellar door staff  
  • Work with the Marketing Manager on EDM’s and Social Media  
  • Run Telephone Sale campaigns for the wine club   
  • Maintain the online store  

   

ESSENTIAL BEFORE YOU START  

  • Responsible Sale of Alcohol (RSA) certification   
  • Responsible Person Badge   
  • A valid Australian drivers license  
  • Applicants must have Australian citizenship/residency or a valid existing permanent Australian work visa  

   

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE  

  • Sales experience  
  • Experience in a hospitality venue   
  • Management of budgets  
  • Management of people    

   

OTHER EXPERIENCE LOOKED FAVOURABLY ON  

  • Cellar Door experience   
  • Knowledge of wine and McLaren Vale  
  • Event management experience   

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS  

  • Strong leadership and people management skills   
  • Be a people person   
  • Self-motivation and organisational skills  
  • Great communication and collaboration skills   
  • Strong computer skills; MS Office, POS Systems, website backend   

   

OTHER REQUIREMENTS   

  • Manual handling – occasional heavy lifting may be required  
  • Regular weekend work is required  
  • Occasional evening work is required  
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required   

   

The role will be full-time and will commence aligning with the run-up to the opening of the new cellar door, due to open early November. Salary package will be negotiable based on experience. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
