Estate grown - Sustainably managed
Situated in the Fleurieu region of South Australia, McLaren Vale is nestled within the southern Mount Lofty Ranges. With it’s close proximity to the Gulf of St Vincent to the west, the resulting Mediterranean-type climate ensures the grapes enjoy a long, even ripening period, producing wines of exceptional flavour and generousity.
The strength of DOWIE DOOLE is the suite of distinctive, premium vineyards that the winemaker can draw upon. Vineyard management is led by advocates of sustainable viticulture practices - Dave Gartlemann and Lulu Lunn. Once harvested, the grapes are hand crafted into premium wines with minimal intervention.
DOWIE DOOLE ESTATE - Tatachilla, McLaren Vale
DOWIE DOOLE’s Estate vineyard in McLaren Vale is biodynamic in conversion and is comprised of 53 hectares of undulating and picturesque landscape, primarily planted to classic McLaren Vale varietals including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and over 50-year-old bush vine Grenache.
Select parcels of fruit are also sourced from the founders’ vineyards:
TINTOOKIE VINEYARD - Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale
Tintookie Vineyard owned by DOWIE DOOLE co-founder Drew Dowie and his partner Lulu Lunn is set on the cool sandy slopes of Blewitt Springs. CALI ROAD VINEYARD – Tatachilla, McLaren Vale
Certain vineyards produce exceptional fruit, creating distinctive wines. Norm Doole's California Road Vineyard is one of those treasures, producing low yielding, outstanding fruit.
THE RANGE VINEYARD - Kuitpo, Adelaide Hills
